How it works

Four moves. No key ring.

  1. The cover slid open along its rails, showing the keys inside

    Slide

The cover runs on rails and clicks shut, so it stays closed in your pocket.

  2. Six brass keys, each sitting in its own pocket

    Pick

6 keys, each in its own pocket. You see them all at once.

  3. A key's tab clicked into the end of the card

    Click

The key's tab locks into the end of the card.

  4. The card held as a wide handle to turn the key

    Turn

The whole card is the handle. Wide and easy to grip.

All images are CAD renders, prototype in progress. Real photos go up here as soon as they're shot.

Why it beats a key ring

Flat, quiet, and always in the same place.

  • Flat and silent

No jingle, no bulge, nothing poking your leg.

  • Kind to your phone

No loose keys rattling against your screen in the same pocket.

  • Fits a wallet slot

Credit-card size, about 3.4 mm thick.

  • Real keys for your locks

Brass blades for Kwikset and Schlage locks, cut to match the keys you use now.

FAQ

Quick answers

Which keys fit?

Keys for locks that use the Kwikset (KW1) or Schlage (SC1) keyway: most house, office, mailbox and padlock keys from those brands. It isn't made for car fobs, chip keys or high-security keys.

Do I use my old keys?

No. The Key Kard uses its own slim brass blades, cut to match the keys you already have.

How do I get my keys cut?

We're planning a Cut & Ship option: send your key codes or photos and get your Key Kard back with the keys cut and ready. Or take the blanks to a local locksmith.

When can I get one?

You can preorder now in the Shop. The working prototype is being built now and orders ship when production begins. We'll email you the ship date.

How much does it cost?

The early-bird preorder is $45, and a 6-pack of KW1 key blanks is $10. Final retail pricing is set at launch.

Is it real?

The design is finished in CAD and every image on this page comes from that model. We'll post real prototype photos and video before the Kickstarter goes live.

What do you do with my email?

We only use it to tell you about the launch. We don't sell or share it, and you can ask to be removed anytime.
